Swarovski takes
Retail-J
Torex Retail secured £2.5m
four year contract with Swarovski for first global
deployment of Retail Java.
Swarovski, world’s leading producer of precision-cut
crystal has selected Torex Retail to supply the
Retail Java EPoS solution across their global retail
landscape. The deal including licenses, maintenance
and support services could potentially be worth in
excess of £2.5M.
The deployment is set to commence shortly in North
America before rolling to Austria and then to the
rest of the company’s retail estate around the
world.
This contract win represents the latest in a series
of global deals for Torex Retail which already
provides EPoS solutions to organisations including
Esprit, Triumph and Reiss on a multi-site
multi-country basis.
Swarovski is deploying Retail Java as the
cornerstone of its strategy to
maximize supply chain efficiency, improve customer
service and CRM functionality, reduce manual
integration and improve business reporting.
The Retail Java solution will be deployed on
existing hardware and will replace Swarovski’s
existing EPoS Retail Pro solution.
The decision to select Torex Retail follows a
tendering process undertaken by Swarovski and the
decision to award the contract to Torex Retail was
taken because of the company’s ability to deliver
market leading EPoS software that integrates
seamlessly with Swarovski’s existing SAP
infrastructure and concurrently deployed Tomax
Merchandise Planning solution.
Torex was able to demonstrate global scale and
deployment capability coupled with extensive
experience of rolling out worldwide retail solutions
capable of addressing key issues including language,
tax and fiscalisation. Importantly for Swarovski,
Torex’s retail expertise adds value and enhances the
established SAP manufacturing and distribution
solution.
When complete, the implementation will enable
Swarovski to enjoy the benefits of a common system
deployed across its entire estate.
The solution will deliver a number of business
benefits including online access to inventory across
a region along with improved supply chain management
and store replenishment. The solution will also be
providing full capability for airside trading which
is a key consideration for Swarovski’s airport based
retail outlets.
The solution will lower training costs and allow
regional managers access to stores from remote
locations (including from other stores) to allow
them to view store performance and monitor key
business metrics.
Commenting on the decision to award the contract to
Torex Retail, Rob Noller, Vice President of Global
Retailing and Information Technology for Swarovski
said, “Torex Retail has demonstrated its ability to
deliver a proven solution that it can deploy and
support on a global level. The Retail Java
application addresses a number of key issues faced
by our business and I believe, once complete, the
solution will increase operating efficiency and
further improve the consumer experience.”
According to Torex Retail’s Overseas Chief Executive
Phil Cox, “Against the major global competitors from
within our Industry, this appointment demonstrates
our ability to deliver state of the art EPoS
solutions on a truly global basis and importantly
provide the support and maintenance required by a
progressive retailer like Swarovski. We are
experiencing considerable market interest in Retail
Java from outside of the UK market place, where its
success to date has been enjoyed. This win will
only serve to give our existing clients, and
prospective new clients the confidence that we can
deliver a compelling combination of technology and
services, in any region in the world, via our
considerable existing operations, and selected
partners. The language, fiscalisation and EFT
related software development required to deliver
this project would accelerate the readiness of
Retail Java for wider scale global deployment. We
are proud to have added Swarovski to the already
impressive list of Retail Java customers.”
